  • #2-Batam

Posted in: Food,Travel by LeeChien on October 30, 2009

    Second day in Batam.
Had a city tour that included in my package.
A poor van with other people.
    Omg..

    First, went to temple.
    We all prayed (i guessed).
Then, went to Polo Ralph Lauren showroom.
According to the tour guide, this is the original and cheapest one.
But not fancy of it, so..
    I bought nothing.

After this, went to Golden Beach (still under constructions actually).
Few activities available, such as flying fox (that you won’t feel to play), go kart (small field) and Cheng Ho Cruise (still not started operating yet).

No one wanna joined any activities.
And other than go kart, no public is joining any of the activities as well.

At the same place, Golden Beach, there’s Batam Folk Culture Villages Miniature.
That is actually the traditional house maniature of 27 provinces from Indonesia.
Among all these, they’re similar and particular malay houses, slight different design.
    Except this one:

    Province Irianjaya R. Kariwari

    After all these ‘sight-seeing’.
Time to shop for the local food of Batam.
Same as previous, i bought nothing.
Then went for lunch at the seafood restaurant next door.
Nice cooking and seasoning but the seafood is just..
    Lil too small…
No photos capture as the whole group were eating like hungry ghosts (dislike eating at the same table with strangers!).

Makan-ed, proceed to the nearby cultural performance.

    Photobucket
    Cultural dance (i guess).

    Photobucket
    Hmmm… (lion dance?!)

    Photobucket
Peeling the coconut shell by teeth..

    Photobucket
    Eating charcoal.

    Photobucket
    Eating glasses.

    Photobucket
    Jumping through the fire ring.

We needed to give tips to the performers, ha…

    Went to another temple again.
    Same thing, we prayed.
And the city tour is ‘officially’ ended.
But we requested to go to Nagoya, the only best shopping mall in Batam (the local said).
And we are truly disappointed with it.
Bought only one shirt that cost around S$2, ha…
    Had dinner there.

    Photobucket
Iced Cendol (not-so-nice, especially the cendol).

    Photobucket
Tuna Bolognese Spaghetti (have no idea why there’s spring onion sprinkled on top).

    Done, went back for spa.
